We have exciting news! The LSA is going digital!

The "cool" rationale
Besides being greener than paper, digital content allows us to reach a broader audience and scale our mission globally, offering content to players around the world for the exact same cost as players in the U.S. Hand-held devices and e-readers eliminate the need for paper mail and physical storage and give musicians everywhere access to materials and music that may not be physically available to them.

The economic rationale
The LSA is adapting to changes in the economy and technology and is making important transitions in order to remain a viable resource to the lute community. We are re-designing and adding to the website to offer more valuable resources to lute players and to make it easy to view them on mobile devices like smartphones and iPads.

It's important for you to know that the cost of printing and mailing Quarterlies and Journals has grown exponentially to a point where it is no longer economically sustainable to offer our publications only in printed form as we have in the past.

Going forward, we are encouraging everyone to choose the digital membership. For those who prefer the printed format, we will of course continue to offer that but we will need to add a surcharge to the cost of membership to cover the increased costs of printing and mailing.  Those who choose this format also have access to the digital version, including the Digital Supplement.  If you still want paper, look for the "paper add-on" checkbox when you join or renew.

International lutenists
If you’ve been hesitating to join the Lute Society of America because of the excessive cost of mailing materials overseas, now is the time! Standard digital membership is now less than paper membership was in the last few years.
